Betty Jean Bynum

Ms. Betty Jean Bynum, 61, of 900 Jordan Street, Wilson, NC, passed on September 20, 2018 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Contending For The Faith Church Ministries, 1006 Academy Street, Wilson, NC. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street, Ext., Wilson, NC.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 3:00 pm until  7:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC. 

Ms. Bynum was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Knight and Hazel Townsend Bynum; three sisters, Joyce Curtis, Hazel Bell and Janet Hagans and one brother , Charles Townsend, aunt and uncle who raised her,  Louis and Maude Townsend.

She leaves many cherished memories to: four brothers, Ashley Townsend and Anthony Bynum both of Wilson, NC, Lawrence Bynum of Washington, NC and Bobby Bynum (Elaine) of New Haven, CT; one sister-in-law, Vernell Townsend; a great nephew, whom she helped raise, A'zaviyon Artis; three nieces, whom she also helped raise, Angela Mason (Anthony),  Valerie Y. Artis and Cassandra Hines (Lloyd) who was also her caregiver; three nephews, Curtis R., Ashley Artis and Kenneth Tyrell Vinson; a special cousin, Brenda Merrell of Cary, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
