Arletha Cannady Pope Obituary

Mrs. Arletha Cannady Pope, 73, of 625 Suggs Street, Wilson, NC. passed away on June 21, 2018 at her home.

The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Evening Light Holiness Church, 208 S. Pender Street,  Wilson,  NC. Burial will follow in Hamilton Burial Garden , Lane Street, Ext., Wilson, NC. 

A public visitation will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC with an inspirational wake service at 6:00 pm also at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Percell Pope; two daughters, Maria C. Artis and Alecia M. Pope; one grandson, Antonio R. Cannady; her parents, Pastor Noah Hunter and Margie C. Smith; two sisters, Wylene Cherry and Antonia Cannady; one brother, William Cannady; grandmother, Elder Martha C. Whitley; three aunts, Irene C. Deans, Mary J. McMillian and Malinda Norris; one uncle, John E. Cannady.

Arletha leaves to cherish many fond memories to: three daughters, Gwendolyn Rogers, Priscilla Pope and Carman McAllister all of Wilson, NC; three sons, Phillip F. Cannady, Popelean Pope both of Wilson, NC and Frankie Hall of Maricopa, AZ; three sisters, Bishop Katie Farmer (Sigmund), Patricia Ingram (James) and Argo Horne all of Wilson, NC; two brothers, Timothy McIver and Edward L. Horne both of Wilson, NC; one uncle, Vanderbilt Cannady of Rocky Point, NC; seventeen grandchildren, including Minister Chansey R. Cannady (Sherrie) and Kunta Cannady whom she reared; thirty-three great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two special friends, whom she loved dearly, Willemina Smith and James F. Murphy; her caregiver of twelve years, Mrs. Minnie Dantzler; one god-daughter, Minister Shirley M. May; two special cousins, Paulette Jones and Dora Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are by Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
