Mr. William Roscoe "Boog" Whitley, Jr.,  81, of 6567 Willing Workers Road,  Lucama, NC, passed away on November 29, 2017 at his home.  The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Atkins Memorial Tabernacle, 6740 Rock Ridge Sims Road, Sims, NC.  Bishop Henry Cox will officiate and burial will follow in the Whitley Family Cemetery, 6567 Willing Workers Road, Lucama, NC.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC, with a wake service from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Mr. Whitley was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe Whitley and Reatha Davis Whitley; one daughter, Deloris Whitley and one son, Alfred Willingham, Sr.; four sisters, Cleo Davis, Mary Hastings, Annie Woodard and Joyceteen Hinnant; and one brother, Edward Whitley.

Mr. Whitley leaves a legacy of love and devotion to:  his devoted and dedicated wife, Evangelist Geraldine Whitley of the home; three sons, Jerry Whitley of the home, Deon Whitley (Megan) of Raleigh, NC and Anthony Deans of Wilson; eight daughters, Diane Powell (Michael) of Wendell, Thomasine Everette (Glen) of Clinton, MD, Debbie L. Whitley of the home, Patricia W. Chatman of Wilson, Daphine Evans of Connecticut, Yvonne Williams (Dennis) of Lucama, Marea Smith of Mullins, SC and Carol Stevens of Wilson; thirty-eight grandchildren; a great number of great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Jean Willingham of Sims; one sister, Esterene McDougald of Kenly; two brothers, Larry D. Whitley of Bailey and Harry L. Whitley (Theresa) of Rocky Mount; one sister-in-law, Rosa Kinsey of New Haven, CT; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including a special nephew, Ricky Whitley of Wilson and special friends including Roosevelt Cox, Willie C. Ward, Otis Ward, Marie Pender, Elder Ellen Battle, Jerome Hester, Johnny Hinnant, Paul Williamson and Pastor Phillip Cox.

Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
