Shanara Michelle Clay was born December 19, 1985 in Chapel Hill, NC. At birth she only weighed 1 pound and 9 ounces and was placed in an incubator, but God saw fit for her to continue to grow and blossom into a young lady living to see 30 years of age. Shanara was an angel sent to the family, and she enjoyed the simple things in life to include having her hair combed and scalp massaged, being taken for a ride in the park, and always receiving compliments about her fashions. She attended Wilson County Public Schools, and then received one-on-one personal care services.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: Her mother- Cynthia Taylor (companion Donnie) of the home, her father- Nathaniel Jones of Wilson, 3 Brothers: Jamal Clay, Michael Taylor, and Jaheem Jones all of Wilson; 5 Nieces: Zyvarrieyah Bullock of Wake Forrest, NC, Kamori Taylor, Zoey Taylor, Amani Taylor, and Ryleigh Mangum all of Wilson, NC; 2 Nephews: Kaiden Taylor and Juelz Clay both of Wilson, NC; 3 Aunts: Denise Taylor Famer (James) and Theresa Clay both of Wilson, NC, and Lesia Taylor Davis (Mark) of Elm City, NC; 2 Uncles: George Karl Taylor and Timothy Clay both of Wilson, NC; 3 Great-Aunts; 4 Great-Uncles, a Special God Mother & Aunt –Concella Barnes of Wilson, NC; a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother and great-grandmother, Lois Jones Taylor and Georgianna Jones Ellis as well as her paternal grandmother and great-grandmother Joyce Clay and Retha Mae Jones; 1 Aunt: Sandra Taylor and 3 Uncles: Leo Taylor, Nelson Taylor, and Terry Clay.
Funeral services scheduled for Monday, September 26, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC
A public visitation is scheduled for Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm also at Stevens Funeral Home.
