Celebration of Life for Mr. Scottie Gerald Newkirk will be held Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ Church, 4009 Lake Wilson Road, Wilson, NC.  The committal service will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery, Wilson, NC.  Overseer John Hart will Preside and Bishop Chester Aycock will deliver the Words of Comfort.

A public visitation for Mr. Newkirk will be on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Stevens Family Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy, Wilson, NC.

Scottie Gerald Newkirk was born July 13, 1973 in Wilson, NC to Dwinder Carol Newkirk and Gerald Douglas Hunter.  He departed this life on April 20, 2017.

Scottie attended James B. Hunt Jr. High School and graduated from Wayne Community College.  Scottie was employed with Smithfield Packing in Wilson, NC for over ten years.  Scottie was a member of St. Paul Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ where he faithfully served until his health declined.

Scottie was a kind, gentle and loving person who kept a smile on his face all the time.  To know him was to love him.  He never met a stranger.  He was willing to help anyone who was in need.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories; his wife, Natasha L. Newkirk of the home; three sons, Scotty T. Brown, Mr. Scottie S. Brown and Mr. Justin Batts; one daughter, Ms. Aaliyah Batts; his mother, Ms. Dwinder Newkirk of Stantonsburg, NC; his father, Mr. Gerald Hunter (Molly) of Wilson, NC; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Annie Edwards of Wilson, NC; one sister, Mrs. Khristy Patyon (Dedrick) of Stantonsburg, NC; one step sister, Ms. Netasha Batts of Wilson, NC; two step brothers, Rickey Reynolds and Chadwick Henderson both of Wilson, NC; two sister-in-laws, Mrs. Carolyn Sessoms (Garland) and Ms. Iris Batts both of Wilson, NC; seven aunts, Mrs. Bobbie Jean Heinfield, Mrs. Shelia May, Mrs. Joyce Underwood all of Wilson, NC, Mrs. Sharlene Battle of Dallas, TX , Mrs. Shirley Gray (Arthur) and Ms. Sherise Rawling both of Baltimore, MD;  one uncle, Mr. Samuel Rawlings of Balitmore, MD; seven great aunts, one niece, Ms. Brianna Payton and one nephew, Master Dedrick Payton III both of Stantonsburg, NC; two special cousins, Mr. Otis May, Jr. of Wilson, NC and Arty Gray of Baltimore, MD and a host of other cousins, family and friends.

Arrangements are by Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr., Parkway, Wilson, NC.
