The homegoing services for Minister Robert Earl Woodard, 52, of 7557 Tedder Road, Lucama, NC will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 @ 1:00 pm.  The service will be held at Simon Grove Holiness Church, 4334 NC Highway 42, Wilson, North Carolina.  The committal services will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street Ext., Wilson, NC.  Bishop Herbert Williams will deliver the Words of Comfort.

Robert Earl Woodard was born on July 02, 1963 in Wilson, NC to the late John Thomas Woodard and the late Peggy Ann Mitchell Woodard. Robert, affectionately called “Rob” by his family returned back to his Heavenly Father peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Duke Medical Center.

Robert was educated with Wilson County School System. Robert worked with Wilson County Bus Garage as a mechanic for over 30 years.

Robert preached his initial sermon under Apostle Elijah Forte on February 18, 1997. In 2002, moved his membership Simon Grove Holy Church under Bishop Herbert Williams Jr.

Robert married his soulmate, Shirley Dawson on January 16, 1990 and to this union one son was born, Christopher Woodard, whom he loved with all his heart. Robert never meet a stranger and would have a conversation to anyone that he meet as if he has known them all his life.

Minister Woodard was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Peggy Woodard and one brother-in-law, Olis Locus Jr.

He leaves to cherish, his soulmate Shirley Dawson Woodard and son Christopher Woodard of the home. Sisters, Evangelist Alison Elaine Locus, Connie Woodard, Elder Teresa Woodard-Dickens, Carolyn Battle (Bobby), Dawn Brock and Mildred Woodard, all of Wilson, NC. Six brothers, Milton Mitchell (Phyllis), Mark James Woodard (Beverly), Ronald Woodard (Rossaline), Tyrone Woodard (Francine), John Anthony Woodard (Kischea) and Jermaine Roundtree all of Wilson, NC. Aunts, Claretta Mitchell Boykin of Philadelphia, Pa. Annie Mae Woodard, Bessie Hardy, Nancy McArthur, Betty Jean Jackson all of Wilson, NC. Betsy Hardy (Donnie) of Virginia. Uncles, Bobby Ray Woodard and Dennis James Woodard of Wilson, NC, Chester Woodard (Bunnie) of Elm City, NC. His grandfather Wallace (TJ) Barnes of Rochester, New York. Two great uncles H.B. Nobles of Snow Hill, NC and Joe Nobles of Raleigh, NC. Two great aunts Catherine Mitchell Sutton of Wilson, NC and Minerva Evans of Appie, NC. A host of nephews and nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

There will be a public visitation for Minister Woodard on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  The family will be present for an inspirational wake service begining at 6:00 pm.  The viewing and insprirational wake service will be held at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy, Wilson, NC.
