Mother Vera Mae Pope

Mother Vera Mae Pope, 92, of  Wilson, NC, departed this earthly life on November 19, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones.

The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Contending For The Faith Church Ministries, 1006 Academy Street, Wilson, NC.

 A public visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.

Mother Pope was preceded in death by : her husband Charlie Pope, Jr.; one daughter, Katrina Atkinson; one granddaughter, Kim Atkinson; one grandson, Rodney Wimberley; her parents, James Pender, Sr. and Lille Edwards Pender;  three  brothers, James Pender, Jr., Moses Spell and Isaac Pender; and two sisters, Artelia Buchanan and Ometa Barnes.

Her legacy of life will be cherished by : her son, Charles Pope (Cheryl) of Sims, NC; Daughters, Charsena Thomas (James) of Elm City, NC and Angela Pope of Wilson, NC; one sister, Lillie Holmes of Wilson, NC ; seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and  fourteen great - great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends; one devoted and caring friend, Sister Katherine Saddique.  Vera  cared deeply for them all.

Arrangements are by Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
