Mary Leake

Mrs. Mary Lucas Leake, 92, of 3216 Phillips Road, Wilson, NC, passed away on August 21, 2015 at Wilson Medical Center, Wilson, NC.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, August  30, 2015 at 2:30 pm at Atkins Memorial Tabernacle, 6740 Rock Ridge Sims Road, Sims, NC.  The family will receive friends for a wake service Sunday prior to the funeral from 1:30 to 2:30 at Atkins Memorial Tabernacle.  Bishop Herbert Williams will deliver the eulogy and Pastor Andrew Barbour will preside.  Burial will follow in Hamilton Burial Garden, Lane Street Ext., Wilson, NC.

Mrs. Leake was preceded in death by her husband, John The Baptist Leake;  four sons, Randolph Leake, Franklin Roosevelt Leake, Ivy Leake and John Leake; one daughter, Rebecca Faye Leake; five brothers, Sidney Lucas, Fate Lucas, John Lucas, Ivy Lucas and Guy Lucas; and two sisters, Mamie Pope and Eva Morgan.

She leaves loving memories to: five sons, Rudolph Leake (Angela), Johnnie Leake (Crystal), Cleveland Ray Leake (Angela), and Ronnie Ray Leake (Virginia), all of Wilson, NC, and Leon Lucas of New York, NY; two daughters, Deloris Joyner (James, Sr.)  of  Lucama, NC and Charlotte Lucas of Wilson, NC; thirty five grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and eleven great great grandchildren; three sisters, Magdalene Howze  (Lee C.) of Pikeville, NC, Sudie Gray Barnes and Martha White, both of Wilson, NC; Elder Lee Roberts, who was like a grandson to her; one goddaughter, Brenda Jones of Wilson, NC; a special friend, Aaron Jones of Wilson, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A public viewing is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the residence where they will assemble on Sunday at 12 noon  in preparation for the wake and funeral procession.
