Lavern Jourdan was born LaVern D. Holloman, on December 13, 1959 to Catherine L. Hooker, and Theodore Holloman at Queens General Hospital, Queens New York. Her primary school education was attained at P.S. 97, and she graduated Beach Channel High School in Far Rockaway Queens, where she met her highshcool sweetheart, Charles J. Johnson. To them, three children were born- Otiqua Johnson, Iana Johnson, and Ian Johnson.  In her 30's, she found love again when she met and married James Jourdan. To them were born two children, Tiara and Joshua Jourdan. They had many years together before he was also called home in 2009.

Lavern attended Cosmetology school, and Business school before finally settling upon a career as a  Human Resources Generalist and Nurse Coordinator. She was an active parent who involved her children in sports early, from Rochdale Little League, school basketball teams, and cheered them on in whatever their interests were. Her greatest accomplishment was successfully raising 5 amazing children, who are all well rounded, gifted, compassionate, intelligent, know and love GOD,  and who bear her strength.

Lavern was a spirited individual who loved life, loved to travel, loved people, and who loved her family. She found peace and joy in music, cooking, providing for others, and having a good time with those she loved . She especially enjoyed spending time with her sister- friends at social gatherings to include The "All White Affairs".

Lavern is survived by her Mother Catherine Holloman; two brothers- Theodore Holloman Jr., and Howard Lee Hooker and Sister in law Robin Hooker; her five children- Otiqua Satterwhite, Iana Jamison, Ian Johnson, Tiara Jourdan, Joshua Jourdan; two son in laws- Infinite Satterwhite and Kyle Jamison; and soon to be daughter in law Tawana Rollocks; one Granddaughter- Carter Satterwhite; Aunts Susan Faye Black, Dorthy Burns, Judy Mae Hooker, and Ethelle Farmer; her Significant other Howard (Al)  Brunson;  And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Although we are bereft at the thought of your physical absence, we take solace in the knowing you will always be near, that you are constantly touching our lives, and that you have taken a piece of each one of us home with you.

FOR OUR MOTHER

You had plans today, to do what you wanted to do,

but little did you know, your father would be calling you.

you hurried off to meet with him, no chance to say goodbye's

But we know you'll always be there, forever in our lives....by our sides

Here we are now picking up where you left off, doing what you set out to complete

striving hard each day to make you proud of us, until one day we meet...

Love:  Tiqua, Iana, Ian, Tiara, and Joshua
