LaTressa Hooks

Funeral services for Mrs. LaTressa Barnes Hooks is scheduled for Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Kairos Church Ministries, 1003 S Lodge Street, Wilson, NC.  The committal service will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery, Wilson, North Carolina.  Pastor George Atkinson will officiate and Apostle Charles E. Lewis will deliver the Words of Comfort. 

LaTressa  Barnes Hooks 58, the daughter of the late Calvin William Boyette and Mary Barnes Boyette was born on October 23, 1957.  She went on to be with the Lord on July 19, 2016. 

Tressa was born in Wilson, NC and educated in the Wilson County schools systems. She graduated from Ralph L. Fike HS and earned her Associates degree from Wilson Technical Community College.  Prior to her illness, she worked as computer input specialist.  

Tressa will be missed by her family and friends. She was a fun loving person who is known for her smile, her infectious laugh and her joy of life.  She was fun to be around and never met a stranger. Tressa loved to dance and loved music especially Bob Marley.  She also loved cross word puzzles.  She loved her family, her husband and children, loved her grandchildren and looked forward to their visits. She was an awesome cook. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Calvin William Boyette and Mary Barnes Boyette. Her Aunt, Eloise Barnes and Grandparents Hubert Ward and Marie Barnes Ellis.

First Class SaQuan Barnes (Oklahoma); Jalen Parker, Nikissia Barnes; Makayla Barnes and Princess Barnes all of Wilson, NC; Lillie and Layla Snow, Nashville, NC.  Step daughters Donella Barnes (Ricky) and Barbara Jean Barnes, Wilson, NC. Her loving brothers and sisters; Calvin D. Barnes, Sr.(Stephanie) Wilson NC; Michelle Boyette Rouse (Travis)Durham NC; Terence Boyette (Yolanda) Stafford, VA; Felicia Boyette; Tonya Boyette; Cassandra Boyette all of Wilson, NC; Shawn Boyette Turner (Zo) Charlotte, NC; Dawn Boyette Langley (Jock) New Haven, CT.  She also leaves her cousin, Frank D. Barnes (Rochelle) Wilson, NC and one uncle, Ernest C. Barnes of Wilson.   Her adopted daughter, Luvette Carpenter of Wilson, and Adopted Grandchildren  Tafari, Octavius and Jordan Carpenter, Wilson NC.  Her loving special friends, Franscola Ellis, Cynthia Taylor and Tanoka White all of Wilson, NC.  She leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.  

A public visitation will be held on Saturday, July 23. 2016 from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
