Johnny Lee Holmes

Funeral services for Mr. Johnny Lee Holmes is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 12:00 pm.  The funeral service will be held at Alpha and Omega Christian Center located at 1210 Clingman Street, Goldsboro, NC. Apostle Frank Dawson will deliver the Words of Comfort.  The committal services will follow in the Jerusalem Church Cemetery in Seven Springs, NC.

The family will be present at 11:00 am to greet friends during a wake service which will also be held at Alpha and Omega Christian Center. 

Johnny Lee Holmes, a beloved husband, father and 'Pop-Pop was born in Goldsboro, N.C. on March 19, 1946.   Daddy J, as he was lovingly known, moved to New Jersey in the 1960s. He retired from the Irvington Board of Education after serving 27 years. Daddy J leaves to cherish his loving memories his loving wife of 51 years, Norma Holmes; his daughters, Sonja Jones-Starling, Bridgett (Mark) Holloman, and one goddaughter, Cheryl Abdur-Rahman (Hassan); two sons, Johnny Lee Holmes Jr., known as "Nu York" (Yahne), and Christopher Lawrence Holmes, known as "Rah"; 13 grandchildren who called him, Pop-Pop; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Willie Rogers Holmes (Evelyn), Greg Holmes, and Eric(Sandy) Nobles; one sister, Delores Nobles; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law, and a host of nephews, nieces, a very special niece, Sharon Lathon, whom he always looked out for, cousins, and friends who loved him.

The funeral services are being held by Nesbitt Funeral Home, 165 Madison Ave., Elizabeth, NJ and Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy, Wilson, NC.
